Internships
Internship course aims to provide students with hands-on experience in environmental and ocean science fields. Students will undertake training and duties under the internship supervisors. On successful completion of the course, the students should be able to apply academic knowledge to the real-life situation, communicate environmental science knowledge through oral and written presentation, work independently and collaborate in team work.
Student Sharing
I have learned to identify some common intertidal species with lots of practice while guiding an eco-tour. The progression from the uncertainty of species identification to instinct recognition is my most memorable experience. The learning of eco-tour guiding helps my future career development in educating the public on conservation.

The internship course offered by the Department of Ocean Science has provide me a precious opportunity to work in a consulting firm. Throughout the internship period, I have learnt not only practical knowledge like methodologies for ecological surveys and species identification skills, but also soft skills like teamwork and problem solving. These hands-on experiences are invaluable, and the skills gained are applicable to many aspects. The course could help me to be better prepared for my future career in doing research related to marine ecology.

The internship course is very useful in gaining working experience and building up personal skills. I have improved a lot in my presentation skills and animal-caring skills. Moreover, I have a higher sense of animal behaviour aspect and observation. Communicating with a vet and joining different body checking is definitely the most unforgettable and valuable experience. The course is worth it for students to join and prepare themselves for the workplace.

The internship course provides me a precious opportunity to work in Ocean Park Hong Kong. Throughout the internship period, I have participated in different animal care work, including cleaning animal facilities and feeding aquatic animals. I think it is very useful for me to gain work experience and build up personal skills. I have improved my communication and collaboration skills too. It is definitely a valuable and unforgettable experience, and it helps me prepare for my future career development.;
